See you all on August 30th!
On behalf of Theresa, Blathnaid and myself, Róisín, thank you to all our first class boys and girls and families for making this a great academic year. The boys and girls have been such a pleasure to teach and interact with each and every day in the classroom. I wish all our Powerstown families a happy, fun filled and safe summer.

Today was our family appreciation day, this our way of saying thank you to all our families for helping the boys and girls and the school throughout the year. Thanks for all your support and kindness this academic term. Please join us at the school BBQ for a burger and a chat. Willow class had a great time in the sunshine with their yummy food!
Willow class reaped all that they sewed today! We get to bring home some lovely fresh lettuce, we could even put it in our sandwiches for tomorrow's lunch. Now our garden can lie fallow for the summer to let our soil enrich itself ready for another school year in September. Thanks to all our families that helped make our garden grow this year!
Family Appreciation Day Tomorrow!
We would like to invite parents to attend our annual Family Appreciation Day tomorrow! The BBQ will kick off at 12.30pm in the courtyard (weather permitting!!). 1st-6th classes will be brought down with their class teacher to eat some food and have some fun and they will then return to their classes as normal. Junior and Senior Infant classes will be released to their parents at 13.10pm as usual and parents are then asked to bring them along to the BBQ. Everyone will receive a ticket that they can exchange for their BBQ treat! Parents can attend the event from 12.30pm and are invited to bring along any salad accompaniments they would like to share with each other. Please ensure you let your class teacher know (if they don't already) if there are specific foods your child is not permitted to eat during this event. There will be music, dancing and playground games so there will be lots of fun alongside the food so everyone should have a lovely afternoon. We look forward to seeing you there to celebrate all our fantastic families following another amazing year in P.E.T.N.S.! We're all so excited, the costumes are made, the lines are rehearsed, the stage is set. All we need are our families to attend tomorrow night!
Children and staff have worked so hard over the past few weeks and months - We cannot wait for all our families to come along tomorrow night to watch the performance! Don't miss out and ensure you get your tickets on sale before and after school! Family tickets €20; Adult €10; Child: €5. The show starts at 6.30pm Friday 23rd June; we look forward to welcoming you then. We had so much fun at Newbridge farm! It was such a brillant day on Friday. We really enjoyed our school tour. We petted the animals, explore the park grounds and even climbed some trees! We finished our day in the playground beside the farm, there was so much running, playing and climbing that we were all tired on the bus home! Thanks again to all our parents for helping this day happen and making it so special for all Willow class.
We're all going to Newbridge Farm! We're so excited to go on our school tour tomorrow! We will need a packed lunch, a rain jacket, some shoes/runners/wellies that we don't mind getting dirty and a packed lunch. We can even bring a small treat with us! We will be leaving the school at 09:10am and returning at the normal school time of 2:10pm. Thanks to all the mums who have volunteered to come with us too. Please meet us at the bus outside the school at 09:10am. Thanks to all the parents for making this tour possible, it's going to be a great day!
Willow class were experimenting with printing and oil pastels to create some beautiful summer tulips. We used different coloured paint and some forks to create our tulip shapes.
Check out our beautiful creations Willow class have been super busy rehearsing for our whole school play, The Jungle Book. Mike has been directing and encouraging us to sing beautifully and stay in our role as the jungle. We can't wait to show our families our fantastic hard work on June 23rd.
All of the amazing sunshine and refreshing rain over the last couple of weeks has done wonders for the Willow class section of our school garden. Today we went out to check on the progress and we could barely believe out eyes. Our lettuce has shot up, our pansies look beautiful and our radishes are looking almost ready for harvesting. We even had a little taste of our lettuce, it was delicious!
Tomorrow and over the next couple of days we will be re-planted our tomato and garden pea plants in our miniature garden pots in our courtyard. We're so excited to watch all the amazing growth in our garden. |
